Begin today’s journey by arriving at the famous Sitou Forest Recreation Park, which is located in the Fonghuanggu Mountain in Lugu Township, Nantou County; its name is derived from the fact that it is situated at the source of the Beishi River, at an altitude of 1,150m. With an area of roughly 2,500 hectares, it is subordinate to the NTU Experimental Forest Office and features rare tree species such as Chamaecyparis formosensis Matsum, Ginkgo biloba L and Chamaecyparis obtusa Siebold & Zucc. var. formosana (Hayata) Rehder, making it an ideal forest for obtaining pythoncidere. The forest is surrounded on three sides by mountains, resulting in cool climate all year round; the foggy bamboo forest is like a paradise on Earth and is favored by visitors, who are attracted here in great numbers throughout the four seasons. The main attractions include Daxue Pond, Ginkgo Forest, Youth Activity Center, Zhulu, Sitou Giant Tree, Bamboo Forest and Red Cypress Forest. |
